Kye Cole Band gets new Bass Player!
Jun 23rd 2009, 2:14pm
As of Early May Chris Weigt became the newest member of the Kye Cole Band joining the long standing prowess of drummer Michael “Micus” Green in the rhythm section. Chris is taking over the bass duties from Daniel Vistar.
“Lieutenant Dan” as he was affectionately known has put his full heart and soul into his own original project “Bic Benedict”. Check’em on myspace.com/bicbenedict.
Chris steps up having been a very seasoned player both in the studio and live. Having played with the likes of “Lifeless Alarm”, “Kate Bradley” and most recently the cover band “The Method”. Chris has done a great job and has learned over 60 songs in less than a month. “It’s been one of the smoothest transitions We’ve had so far. I’ve gone through Bass players like spinal tap goes through drummers” says Kye with a laugh, “I reckon we finally got a keeper with Chris, Welcome aboard!”
It’s all about the Music!!!

How much fun can you have working as hard as you can? More than you can ever imagine. Since turning his love for music into a career Kye Cole has worked harder than ever before. That’s saying a lot considering he put himself through engineering working as a landscaper! Since moving to Australia from Canada it’s only taken 5 short years for Kye to carve out his own niche in the Brisbane music scene playing at venues such as the “Australian Outback Spectacular (2006/2007), Mud bulls and Music Festival (2007/2008/2009), and the Brisbane Exhibition 2008. Last year Kye’s country rock cover band “Coalbucket” was personally invited to be the exclusive live entertainment for the Ewan Race Meet West of Townsville and has already been invited back for 2009. The Kye Cole Band will also be performing as part of this year’s festivities for the CMCA’s National Rally in Rockhampton. Earlier this year they toured their way down the East coast and played the main stage at the Kinross Country Muster where both Steve Forde and Beccy Cole were headlining. More recently they secured a 6 week contract playing in Darwin at pubs, clubs, and events during the festival season of July and August. In addition to all the touring Kye’s band plays regularly at several local venues both in Brisbane and the surrounding area.
